I’ve been a multilingual Translator Project Manager and a Freelance Journalist and Writer for over 15 years, and count myself fortunate for having a career that I enjoy, and which fits well around raising two young children. Over the years I have written on a huge variety of subjects, including health and literature issues, baby and child care, interior design for house and garden magazines, and I’ve had several weekly columns and pages. I’ve written for a few local women’s weekly and monthly magazines, some medical publications and some newspapers. I have done all kinds of writing, from putting together self help booklets on life encouragement, to ghost writing a book on an alternative language system and a few kids’ stories. I’ve interviewed a few celebrities, traveled to exotic locations and written about them, and done hundreds of features and stories on the endlessly fascinating aspects of people’s lives.
In this long journey, I started as a Business Development Executive in Multicultural Services to Corporate Accounts with Human Resources, Training & Development, Marketing, Fund Raising, and Investors Relations in the USA, Latin America, Europe and Asia. My experience included organizing respectable events for companies like Chanel, Paramount and Fox among others. As an Interpreter & Translator I have offered Foreign Languages consultancy at conferences, presentations, and lectures, tours of foreign delegates, seminars, medical consultations, administrative/legal hearings and proofreading/editing for academic papers or business marketing materials, legal depositions, medical brochures, immigration affidavits, business solutions, representing companies in membership events and many other interpreting needs. As a Project Manager I am responsible for new interpreter’s recruitment, screening language abilities, curriculum and leading continued training sessions besides book editing and publishing.
The fact that I have lived in so many different countries enabled me to work on culturally sensitive issues with confidence for people from different cultures and backgrounds. I am also skilled in sustained concentration on audio tracks of Media Recording, Scanning Equipment and Voice Recognition softwares in which I have developed strong language and Subtitle Translation experience. I have prepared a presentation at University of California, Berkeley in Aug/2009. At the moment, I am on the board of many different organizations and an Ambassador for two local Chambers of Commerce. Before I came to live in the USA, I was involved with the World Economic Forum, being their guest in DC, India and China. I spent then 3 months experiencing the life of an ashram near Bombay, India and spent time in Southeast Asia. When I returned to the USA, I was invited to be part of the Harvard Business School alumni through the David Rockefeller Center for Studies in which I have invited international companies to attend a weekly event since February 2001 for a Latin American Summit in which I served as a panel mediator.
I worked in New York for the Corps Diplomatique, IMS, Court Houses and Veritext Reporting Agencies. In Los Angeles, I was the Investors Relations Manager at a Boutique Private Investment Bank in Los Angeles at the Private Equity Team for over 2 years. In addition, I was Assistant Vice President of Business Development & Marketing Officer at Desert Commercial Bank in Palm Desert and have promoted products at big events for EventNet USA and Toyota in the area of Palm Springs. Since then, I have been involved with TLC Women's Writing Workshops, The Palm Springs Writers Guild, the American Society of Journalists and Authors, American Pen Women, The Women Leaders Forum in The Coachella Valley and serve on the board of the Center of Leadership and Partnership Studies with Dr. Riane Eisler, PHD and Globond. Besides that I volunteer time and translations skills at CASA a Court Appointed Special Advocates for neglected children and help with fundraising and volunteer work to the Miriam House & Birth Choice of the Desert for single mothers. Finally last year I was invited to work in Paris on a few projects related to the year of France in Brazil, event that can be seen online at: www.anodafrancanobrasil.cultura.gov.br

Having recently attended a Computer-Assisted Translation course at the Graduate School of Translation & Interpretation at the Monterey Institute of International Studies has definitely complemented my background with the technical knowledge about Translation Memory & Terminology Databases. I offer experience in language dubbing, voice-over and subtitling files for the entertainment industry to companies such as M & M Productions, SDI Media, and the Victory Project for Microsoft, Paramount, Best Life Media, Streisand Foundation, Kitchen TV, and Power Pilates Verona and was interviewed by Revista Epoca Negocios, Brazil Explore Magazine among others. I believe that travel is responsible for some of life’s most memorable moments. Celebrating a life milestone or simply enjoying the vacation of a lifetime is just a few of the reasons people crave to travel. When people can share those experiences with friends and loved ones, those memories last forever. Traveling is fun, rewarding and sometimes even life changing. I have traveled the whole world but had previous experience in receptive tourism in different countries such as India, Turkey and Japan and have been trained at the Western and Eastern of the USA. In these uncertain days it is all the more important that we get out and explore our wonderful world. It is through travel we breakdown prejudice, build understanding and create a better and more caring world. I currently live in California and as an International Guided Tour Director, I have always taken great pride in showing travelers the heart and soul of the places I have lived or visited.
